Hamilton Island is nestled in the heart of 74 tropical Whitsunday islands, just off the Queensland Coast and at the edge of the world-famous Great Barrier Reef.
Traditionally all sanitary waste receptacles have had to be removed from the island by boat, washed and returned to the island in a full exchange progamme. The TerraCyclic Bio Bin system, requiring “no washing” and reduced volumes of waste to be removed, was a big factor in the decision making, remembering Australia is in a water shortage nationwide.
Now two additional Whitsunday resorts have now followed Hamilton Islands lead in the interests of environmental responsibility.
